Updated 12-14-2022: Given all the buzz associated with ChatGPT and the overwhelming traffic to their website, I have updated this post with several more articles on the topic.
ChatGPT is the new artificial intelligence product, released 10 days ago by OpenAI, that answers questions and has taken the tech world by stormAlan Kohler – Yes, ChatGPT has changed the world
That quote from a recent article sounds like hype – and when it is all said and done, it could be. For now, responses from ChatGPT are stunningly human-like. Since it was introduced, the buzz has been growing – with strong reactions to its possible impact.
The popularity of the website is growing so fast that it can’t keep up with traffic. I received the same message as this Twitter User.
With ChatGPT operating at capacity right now, it will take multiple attempts to experiment with it. After several attempts however, I did get the chance to check it out. Give ChatGPT a shot and let me know what you think. As for what ChatGPT thinks, I decided to ask. I like the answer, which speaks to the uncertainty of it all and the danger of attempting prediction. We can however envision the possibilities of a capability that was just unleashed on the world. If you ask a question multiple times, you do not get the same canned response. For example, when I asked the question above again, here is how it answered:
It is unlikely that ChatGPT, as a single technology, will change the world on its own. However, it is possible that the technology behind ChatGPT, which is a large language model trained by OpenAI, could be applied in ways that could have a significant impact on society. For example, large language models like ChatGPT have the ability to generate human-like text, which could potentially be used in applications like automated customer service or language translation. However, it’s also important to note that the development and use of any technology, including ChatGPT, should be carefully considered and evaluated in order to ensure that it is used ethically and responsibly.ChatGPT
Interesting times indeed.
