Life, Health, and Longevity

Healthy life extension is a future scenario depicted on this emerging future visual. In this era of genomics, precision medicine, and rejuvenation biotechnology, extending our healthy lives is not only possible, but likely. It is believed in some circles that the first person to live to 200 may have already been born.  This animated video was developed to support a recent event on the topic of life and health. It closes with a quick glimpse of TCS capability via a next generation sequencing facility and an analytics platform for genomics and metagenomics.

  1. A very nice exploration of potential future scenarios and implications using your excellent model and sweet graphics but unfortunately based on futurism fluff rather than present day facts.
Western life expectancies have stagnated or are declining, chronic disease is growing to beyond epidemic proportions, new natural biological agents present greater threats than at any time in the last 100 years, quality of life for the ‘no longer aging’ population is falling and consequentially, global healthcare systems of every flavor are failing under this pressure. Whizz bang technology is being rendered impotent by being used in the pursuit of faulty mid-century medical theory e.g. heart-diet hypothesis, obesity driven disease models, calorie/energy driven nutrition, somatic mutation theory of cancer, etc. while market forces (pharma, insurance, for profit healthcare, agri-business) predominantly benefit from sickness rather than health.
What would be truly interesting would be the application of future scenario logic to solving real problems rather than developing ‘pie in the sky’ stories.
